6th ab+mf 2017

Sydney based artist Barbara A Davidson has been working as a print maker for 50 years and turned to producing artist’s books as part of her practice. In 1991, after making prints related to an activity each day of the week, realising they should be viewed in order and together, she decided to study bookbinding. Making artist’s books gave her the opportunity to have subject matter, colour, tone, texture, and atmosphere seen in a planned order as well as to have related covers and end pages. Without glass and close-up, the type of paper, ink, embossing and detail can be seen.

All twenty-six books have hand printed covers and end papers. French Simplicity binding is by the artist. All are signed by Barbara A Davidson.
